Privacy & data protection

The short version: we run no ads, set no cookies without consent, collect almost nothing, and never sell data. The long version follows — written to describe what this site actually does.

1. Who we are

Mitchel Lake Group (“MitchelLake”, “we”) is a global executive search and advisory firm operating from offices in New York, London, Barcelona, Singapore, Melbourne and Sydney. For personal data collected through this website, Mitchel Lake Group is the data controller. You can reach us through any office on the contact page.

2. What we collect — and what we deliberately don't

This site is designed to collect as little as possible:

  • Analytics (only with your consent). If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand readership — pages visited, approximate region, device type. If you decline, no analytics script loads and no analytics cookie is set. You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie preferences” in the footer.
  • Subscriptions. If you subscribe to the Talent Market Index, the signal wire or our newsletter, we store your email address, your chosen topics and timestamps — nothing else. We use it solely to send what you asked for.
  • “Mark as useful” counts. These are anonymous counters per page. No cookie, no identifier and no IP address is stored with them.
  • Enquiries. If you email an office, we hold your correspondence as part of normal business records.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs (IP address, request path) for security and reliability.

We do not run advertising, sell or rent personal data, build cross-site profiles, or use third-party tracking pixels. Your regional view preference (Oceania / Asia / EMEA / Americas) is derived from your browser’s time zone and stored only in your own browser (localStorage) — it is never transmitted to us.

3. Why we process it (lawful bases)

  • Consent — analytics cookies; subscription emails (you can withdraw either at any time).
  • Legitimate interests — operating and securing the site, anonymous engagement counts, responding to enquiries.
  • Legal obligation — where retention of business records is required by law.

4. Who processes data on our behalf

  • Railway Corp. (hosting; currently served from the United States, with migration to EU (Netherlands) hosting scheduled) — serves the site and stores subscription data.
  • Google LLC (Google Analytics 4; only after consent) — readership analytics. IP anonymisation applies.

Where data is transferred outside the EEA, UK or Australia (hosting, and Google Analytics with consent), the transfer relies on the processors’ standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards. The market intelligence shown on this site (signals, the Talent Market Index, sector and regional gauges) is about companies and publicly reported events — it is not built from visitor data.

5. How long we keep it

  • Subscriptions — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you; removed promptly on request.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics retention is set to the minimum available period (14 months).
  • Server logs — short-lived, per our hosting provider’s rolling retention.
  • Enquiry correspondence — as long as needed for the relationship and applicable record-keeping law.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, UK GDPR and the Australian Privacy Act (as applicable to you), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; object to or restrict processing; withdraw consent; and receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any right, contact any office via the contact page — we respond within the statutory period (one month under GDPR). You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority: in the EU, your national data protection authority; in the UK, the ICO (ico.org.uk); in Australia, the OAIC (oaic.gov.au).

7. Cookies and local storage

In full, this site can set:

  • ml-consent (localStorage) — your analytics choice. Set when you respond to the cookie notice.
  • ml-region (localStorage) — your chosen regional view; defaults from your browser time zone. Never transmitted.
  • ml-useful:* (localStorage) — prevents repeat “useful” marks. Never transmitted.
  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — only after you accept analytics.

No consent, no analytics cookies — declining changes nothing about how the site works.

8. Changes to this policy

We update this page whenever a feature that touches personal data changes, and revise the date below. Material changes are flagged on this page rather than applied silently.
