Executive Search Fintech, Square
Historical placement: In 2014 MitchelLake partnered on a ‘first in-country” hire via an executive search for fintech, Square. At the time Square was one of the world’s highest-profile pre-IPO startups. Our mandate was to find a driven and entrepreneurial executive to be head of APAC. This hire supported their initial strategy for expansion into the Australian Marketplace, and serve as an anchor for their growth into the broader region.
“With the launch of Square Reader in Australia, we’re empowering local sellers with the tools they need to start, run, and grow their businesses,” Jack Dorsey, CEO and Co-Founder of Square. “Our launch in Australia is an important step for our company and an exciting moment for a market so committed to innovation and an entrepreneurial small business community.” – Jack Dorsey

Find out more about Square on Linkedin: “Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then, Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.
Founded in 2009 and headquartered in San Francisco, Square is currently available in the United States, Canada, Australia, the UK, and Japan. Square offices are located in San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, New York, Atlanta, St. Louis, Scottsdale, Dublin, London, Toronto, Melbourne, and Tokyo.”
