Fuse entering a five-year CRADA with NNSS commits the company to an operating relationship that is categorically different from a research collaboration or a pilot agreement. CRADAs carry mutual obligations, shared IP frameworks, facility access, personnel coordination, and compliance structures tied to the national security apparatus. With Los Alamos and Sandia already in the portfolio, Fuse has now built a three-node relationship across the U.S. nuclear security enterprise, each node carrying its own classification, procurement, and counterparty-management requirements. That is a program-management and regulatory burden that scales non-linearly with each addition. For fusion companies, that conversion is accelerating. Companies reaching this stage of national-lab integration in the fusion and nuclear-security corridor face rising demand for leadership in government-program operations, classified-environment compliance, and the technical-commercial interface that keeps applied research translating into deployable output rather than stalling inside institutional process.
