Brex's partnership with Tekion commits it to a fundamentally different distribution architecture. Rather than acquiring customers through direct outbound or self-serve channels, Brex is now embedded inside a vertical ERP — Tekion's Automotive Retail Cloud — meaning the sales motion, activation, and account context all flow through a partner's workflow layer. For automotive dealerships, spend management has historically lived inside DMS and accounting tools, not standalone fintech products. This partnership makes Brex the financial layer of an existing operational system, which is a harder integration to displace but also a harder integration to own unilaterally. The throughline is financial capability delivered at the workflow level inside domain-specific software, not sold as a separate product. Companies pursuing this embedded-distribution model at scale face increasing demand for commercial leadership with partnership and channel architecture experience — specifically operators who can manage P&L accountability across indirect routes, negotiate platform economics, and build product integrations that serve both end customers and the SaaS partner's retention interests simultaneously. Direct-sales heritage alone does not transfer cleanly here.
