Volunteering for Family House

Last week the MitchelLake Group ventured beyond office walls and drove, biked, and scooted their way across town to Family House, an independent nonprofit organisation providing temporary housing to the families of children with life-threatening illnesses being treated at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

Family House serves as a home away from home for these families, who all come from 50+ miles away from UCSF, and many of whom are at or below low-income status as measured by UCSF. Through physical and emotional support, Family House brings warmth to families during a difficult time – without any financial concerns.

Our team got to work fixing up the inside walls to help keep Family House the cozy and comfortable home it’s been since 1981. Some of us got a little too excited near the wet paint and went home with white hair.

Family House is an independent organisation that relies solely on the donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
